I celebrated my birthday at Eddy V’s and had an amazing experience. They were kind enough to seat us with a great ocean view, which made the night feel extra special. The food was fantastic across the board—the lobster bisque was rich and flavorful, and the crab fried rice and truffle mac and cheese were perfect sides. The sea bass was cooked beautifully and definitely a highlight. They even surprised me with a complimentary bananas Foster butter cake, flambéed tableside, which was both delicious and a fun touch. Big shoutout to our waiter, Conner, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly. Overall, great food, great service, and a perfect spot for a special occasion (or just a night out)

This was our second time celebrating a special occasion at Eddie V’s in La Jolla, and once again they exceeded every expectation! Our first visit was for my husband Erik’s birthday, and this year we returned for Father’s Day. If you’re planning to visit on a holiday or during peak dinner hours, make your reservation well in advance—this place fills up quickly, and for good reason. Before we even ordered, this little boy showed up at our table trying to sell chocolate bars for a fundraiser. At first I was like wow, they allowed this inside this restaurant. The little guy was such a hustler, smooth talking about his candy sales. My husband was like we don’t have cash and his reply was I take Venmo. LOL. We were cracking up but did buy one bar for $20 and then he tried to offer two bars for $40. The manager caught up with him and said come on you know the drill. But after he left we were laughing that he had the nerve to come into such a nice restaurant and had quite the sales skills! That kid is going somewhere for sure! From the moment we arrived, the soft glow of ambient lighting and the gentle hum of conversation set an elegant, welcoming tone. The staff made us feel special right away. Our table was beautifully decorated to celebrate both Erik’s birthday and Father’s Day, complete with chilled bubbly champagne at check-in. We were even seated in the same booth as our last visit, the plush seating and intimate setting making the evening feel even more memorable. I started with my favorite, the Hope Diamond Martini, its icy blue hue shimmering in the glass with a perfectly chilled, silky finish. This time my daughter Greta was finally old enough to join me for one. We also ordered the wagyu potstickers, and they were absolutely incredible—delicately crisp on the outside with a rich, buttery filling that melted in your mouth, an easy must-order! Greta and I shared a Caesar salad, which was perfectly prepared with crisp romaine, a creamy, garlicky dressing, and just the right amount of crunch from the croutons. Choosing between the seafood and steaks is never easy because everything looks amazing, but somehow we always end up ordering steak—and we’re never disappointed. Greta and I both had the petite filet with the Parmesan and horseradish crust, cooked perfectly with a tender, juicy center and a savory, slightly tangy crust that added just the right kick. Erik and Gregory ordered the New York strip with lobster tails, the steak rich and flavorful with a perfect sear, and the lobster sweet, buttery, and succulent—every bite was outstanding. The family-style side dishes are one of our favorite parts of the meal. We always order the grilled asparagus, lightly charred with a smoky flavor and a satisfying snap, and the truffle mac & cheese, creamy and indulgent with a deep, earthy aroma. This visit we added the crab fried rice, which was absolutely delicious—fragrant, savory, and packed with tender pieces of crab—and is now a new favorite. For dessert, they brought out a fun bananas Foster for Erik’s birthday and lit it on fire, the warm caramelized bananas and rich rum sauce filling the air with a sweet, intoxicating aroma that made the moment even more special. Greta and I ordered the affogato—even though it wasn’t on the menu, they happily made it for us. It’s an espresso shot poured over vanilla ice cream, the hot, bold coffee melting into the creamy sweetness for a perfect balance of flavors, and if you haven’t tried one before, it’s a must! Greg had the crème brûlée, with its perfectly crisp caramelized sugar top cracking to reveal a smooth, velvety custard underneath. From the impeccable service to the perfectly prepared food and thoughtful attention to special occasions, Eddie V’s continues to be one of our favorite restaurants for celebrations. We can’t wait to come back for the next one!

One of my favorite seafood restaurants in San Diego. The food is fresh, especially the seafood, and everything we’ve tried has been very good. The ocean views make the experience even better, and the atmosphere is always enjoyable. Valet parking is available, which makes visiting very convenient. Overall, it’s a beautiful place with good food and excellent service.

We had a reservation for our anniversary for early evening to catch sunset and while they made the effort to give us a nice table, it was outside the service station and very noisy. We offered to leave and come back, but the manager would not accept that and moved a table from the bar to outside on the courtyard. We had our own little spot to have drinks and enjoy the view, it was over and above what they needed to do. Plus the rose petals they had put on our table were moved again! Our server Jan went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. We moved inside after sunset to a wonderful window and caught the last of the view on the cove. I forgot the managers name-maybe mark?- but just want to thank everyone again for a special anniversary dinner.

02/03/26 Amber, our waitress, paid attention to detail. She checked in on us often and had a quick chat with us.
