Tapas style. 20% gratuity added for parties of 5+. Menu seems to be changing somewhat regularly and/or seasonally. They do not offer tea nor lemonade. We were greeted and welcomed by several as we entered, and enjoyed very friendly and helpful service overall. The variety of foods in the menu were split into "Hot" or "Cold". The charcuterie board had generous portions and good variety but lacked enough crackers to serve the food. Extra crackers were provided upon request. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were generous. While she-crab soup was tasty, the texture and flavor of minced onions interfered with enjoying the crab meat. Several of the dishes we ordered seemed to be very spicy (Goya brand ginger beer, shrimp skewers, and wings (though there is an option for lemon-pepper wings) or overly salty (mini crab cakes, seared scallops). The baguette came out piping hot and fresh on a bed of olive oil, shredded romano, and herbs for dipping. Calamari was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly, the sauces were good. Live music was warming up as we finished.
If I lived in Virginia Beach, this would be my pub hangout; great drinks and food, with cheerful atmosphere. Quick service, mix of shareable and single dishes. Burger was fantastic, as were the crab cakes. Veggie potstickers and cauliflower bites were solid. Note that the fries had a seasoning (old bay?) which I liked but might not be to everyone's taste. Save room for the bread pudding, which the entire table attacked, I should have ordered two or more. Liked the live music.
I just had to hop on here and leave a review after visiting The Roads Bistro. From the food to the service to the cocktails and atmosphere and then you add the wonderful live music… my evening was superb! I’ve been in VB many years and I wish I knew about this spot sooner cause it has definitely jumped to the top of my list of places to go! The food and cocktails were innovative and delicious. Pricing was right on par for the quality of food and drink and yet didn’t break the bank. Highly recommend!
What a find! We had no idea this place existed until we were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary. It turned out to be the perfect spot. The food was absolutely amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful, music selection was a total vibe and the unique art on the walls really added to the charm. Our server, Nicole, provided superb service. She was so kind, attentive, and had fantastic recommendations. She even made us laugh and took some great photos for us, making the night feel truly personal and special. We will totally be back and have already been telling friends and family!
2nd time here. First time with colleague (no pics). This time for date night. Went Christmas Eve, walked in and seated ourselves. They had the fireplace going, music playing, and people either at the bar, on date nights, or having a birthday dinner. We sat by the window, server came and took our drink order. We ordered Shrimp skewers, wings, fries, and a burger with fries. Everything was hot, seasoned, and fresh. Great place to visit a few times a year. Next time I go I want to try some more of their menu.
